Do you love it or hate it?

Hi, everybody.
These days of quarantine some of us have time to analyze things more deeply. We miss lots of things we usually do outdoors, but we are also enjoying many things we don't usually do indoors because of our stressful lives. In lesson 6A we are studying Object Pronouns. Complete the activities 1, 2 and 3 (page 84) and Grammar Bank 6A and then check this slide show and decide if you love or hate the activities, people and food you see in the photos. After that, make a comment to this blog and tell us what you love and hate about this quarantine. Remember you can read other comments and reply them.

In lesson 6A we also practise our reading and listening skills through the story The Glass Bottle. Complete units 4 and 5 to check your comprenhension. Then, you can also do activiy 6 for pronunciation. I'll send you the answers to these activities by e-mail so you can correct yourself. For further practice of reading and listening, you can use this website. I also recommend you to read and listen to these fairy tales through this You Tube video. If you have children, you can do this homework with them.

Finally, to practise your speaking, we are going to use a new tool, Flipgrid. I will send you a code by email; you have to use this code to record a video saying what you love and hate (or dislike) about this quarantine we are living.

That's all for now. Next week it's Easter so I will only publish a post to learn more about how English people celebrate this festivity.

Have a nice week, my dearest students. Please, keep safe and sound.

Clothes. What are you wearing?

In Unit 5 (Practical English) we are studying vocabulary related to clothes. We have prepared three slide shows to review this vocabulary. Click on the first one to name some items of clothes. Then click on the second one to describe what some celebrities are wearing in the selected photos. After that, complete the activities on page 74 and 75 (English File, Practical English, In a clothes shop). Remember you can watch the videos if you use englisfileonline.com (follow the instructions on How to access English File Online Practice on the first page of your textbook).  Finally, click on the third slide show to review expressions we use when we buy clothes and other expressions found in this unit. Now, feel free to write a comment telling us what you are wearing right now (e.g. "I am wearing workout clothes all the time, but I don't really practise any sports). You can also use your WhatsApp group to send photos of each other and describe what you are wearing in those photos. Make it funny; try to wear crazy clothes. Remember, we can have fun while we practise our English.

What are you doing these days?

Hi, everybody.

Our first post on this blog will focus on the positive side of these crazy times. This quarantine is a new situation for everybody, but we can take advantage of it and do those things we hardly ever do because of our stressing life. For example, right now you are practising English. Look at this slide show and try to guess what these people are doing. Review the structure of the Present Continuous in Unit 5B (Grammar Bank page 218) and then go to englishfileonline.com for practice (follow the instructions on How to access English File Online Practice on the first page of your textbook). Finally, you can make a comment to this post telling us what your are doing these days to keep yourself busy and happy.

Stay well and take care of yourself and your family.
